Building Permits & Inspections

The Zoning Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for:

  • Conducting building construction inspections
  • Issuing building permits
  • Issuing certificate of occupancy permits
  • Reviewing building plans
  • Working directly with the Planning and Zoning Commission

To obtain a permit for both residential and commercial uses, simply download the forms below (if available) or give us a call and we will be happy to provide you with the necessary forms.

Zoning Information

In 1989, the Village Council adopted zoning for Vanlue in an effort to manage growth and protect property owners’ rights. Listed below is information about the zoning requirements.

A Zoning Permit is required any time you:

  • Enlarge a structure
  • Build a structure
  • Add a yard shed or accessory building
  • Add a fence or a swimming pool
  • Add a patio or a deck
  • Pave a driveway or parking lot
  • Request a change for the type of use of the property

If you are planning any of the above-mentioned changes, or splitting or combining property parcels, you MUST contact the Village Zoning Inspector PRIOR to starting any work. He will be able to answer any questions relating to your planned project.

BE AWARE THAT IF CONSTRUCTION BEGINS BEFORE OBTAINING A ZONING PERMIT, THE FEES ARE DOUBLED FOR THE ZONING PERMIT.
